Troop 99 had a very successful weekend at Goffstown’s #1 event: the Pumpkin Regatta! The scouts once again held their food booth next to Sawyer’s where they sold apple crisp and chili, cooked on site in Dutch ovens over hot coals.
The Regatta weekend is one of the biggest fundraisers for the troop of the year, and it certainly takes the efforts of all the scouts as well as their parents. The success of this weekend is a result of planning, organization, and follow-through of a large number of people volunteering their time to this effort. This year, as in years past, Troop 99 offered our famous chili. The ground beef for the chili was donated by Lemay and Sons Beef, which is a top quality product. With tomato sauce, beans, and spices, we are confident our chili is some of the best in town! You can’t beat the authentic taste of chili cooked in a cast iron Dutch oven over hot coals. Optional: top with Fritos for a delightful corn crunch!
Our apple crisp is made from scratch and a Regatta classic.
Scoutmaster Mr. Wood summed it up best in an email:
"I would like to start off by thanking everyone that participated in making our booth at the Pumpkin Regatta a huge success, especially Mr. Hunter, Mr. Wilcox, Mr. Follansbee, Mr. Stockton and Mr. Cote. We ran into a few snags along the way with needing more food, breaking can openers and running out of bowls, but we managed to make it through. Thank you for saving the day Ms. Follansbee, Ms. Stockton, Ms. Hunter and Mr. Babin! All in all the Troop raised just over $1,500, thanks in part to the generosity of Lemay & Sons Beef and Mr. Cote for donating the food. So once again, thank you all for your help and a big thank you to all the boys that did a fantastic job running the booth and preparing the food! They did such a great job that we sold out of everything by 2:30 on Sunday!"
The lines on Sunday were very steady! We even ran out of bowls at one point but were saved by parents making emergency drop offs.
